The Recreation and Parks Department has executed a construction contract with Cazadoro Construction, Inc. for a summer renovation of Victoria Manalo Draves Park in SOMA. The work includes the addition of sports lighting at the ballfield and basketball court and upgrades of pathway lighting, as well as minor security updates to pathways, low walls, and fencing, to create better circulation and site visibility. The project eliminates interior barriers and increases the functional and landscaped space within the children’s playground, provides new and additional netting at the ball field, lowers the mound of lawn east of the play areas, expands the community garden, and provides updated irrigation and signage. We are working with our contractor on early submittals and will be starting construction in the park sometime in June. To ensure public safety, the entire park will be closed for a couple of months this summer. Our goal is to complete the work in the playground and ball field area before SFUSD begins on 8/16, and to complete the entire project as soon as possible.
