Today our contractor began work demolishing sections of the sidewalk along Byxbee, from the main playground entrance to the corner of Byxbee and Shields Streets.
Please note that the contractor is currently providing temporary pedestrian access around this work via barriers and via a temporary ramp into the main playground entrance on Byxbee Street.
We anticipate that the sidewalk work as well as replacement of the curb ramps in front of the park at Byxbee and Shields Street (SW corner of the intersection) will take 2-3 weeks.
We are working with the contractor to complete this as soon as possible, to limit disruption to pedestrian access and parking.
Once this work is completed, we will also be opening the Shields Street sidewalk fronting the park, from Byxbee to the west edge of the volleyball court. Please note that the contractor is holding off on paving the sidewalk area immediately in front of the lower lawn terrace entrance, to avoid damage during truck access for construction.
This work is required of the project for accessibility compliance.
Thank you for your patience!
