You may have noticed that the pace of construction at Esprit Park has slowed over recent weeks. This is in part because the project team is working together to minimize impact to the roots of trees on site. We have also experienced a large amount of vandalism on site since January, including physical evidence of what we believe to be the deliberate poisoning of five poplar trees.
Your help is greatly needed to help us identify the individuals responsible for this criminal activity. If you have any information pertaining to these incidents, please leave an Anonymous Tip with SFPD: 415-575-4444 (voice) or text TIP411 (847411) in the "To" field and the keyword "SFPD" in the text field, followed by the message. Other vandalism has included:
• Breach of construction fence chain link mesh
• Locks on perimeter fencing broken multiple times;
• Graffiti on construction fence screening;
• Tree removal markings painted on trees not slated for removal.
Due to the condition of the five poisoned trees, plus the condition of two additional trees that were in poor health prior to construction, we will be removing a total of seven trees in the coming weeks. Six of these trees will be replaced. We look forward to construction picking up pace in the coming weeks and to celebrating the park renovation with you later this year!
