Richmond Playground
Completed and Open to the Public August 2024!
Scope of Work
The project included upgrades and accessibility improvements to the public restrooms, accessibility improvements at park entrances, placemaking improvements with new planting, paving, seating and other furnishings, and a complete renovation of the children’s play area with new surfacing and equipment for both the toddler and school aged children’s play areas at Richmond Playground.
Background
The renovation of Richmond Playground was part of the Let’sPlaySF! Initiative, which seeks to inspire creativity and play throughout the City. 13 playgrounds prioritized for improvement by a citizen task force are in the process of being reimagined and redesigned for this and future generations of San Francisco’s children.
Funding
This project was funded by private donations and public sources including:
$2,106,642 – RPD 2012 Bond, Let'sPlaySF!
$639,886 – General Fund
$28,471 – Open Space Fund
$700,000 – Philanthropy
Total Sources: $3,475,000
The construction contract award for this project was approved by Recreation and Parks Commission on July 20, 2023 (PDF). This construction contract award obtained and complies with all city, state, and federal regulatory approvals, including any that are specific to this project's funding sources.
