Golden Gate Park- 9th & Lincoln Gateway Improvements
The gateway to Golden Gate Park at 9th Avenue and Lincoln Way is one of the most well used park entrances by pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. The gateway is in need of landscape improvements that will create an iconic and welcoming arrival so that the entry experience may live up to its prominent location. The proposed gateway design will also improve wayfinding for those arriving by foot, it will increase pedestrian safety, and will serve to strengthen the connection between Golden Gate park and the Inner Sunset.
Scope of Work
This project focuses on improvements to the landscape north of the curb at Lincoln Way, on both the east and west sides of 9th Avenue. These improvements include:
Approximately 5,500SF of new concrete paving (sidewalks)
Distinctive trees and landscaping in approximately 6,000SF of new planting area with upgraded irrigation
New signage including a Golden Gate Park engraved boulder
Large stone planters
Stone or concrete steps with handrails
New pedestrian lighting
Relocation of MUNI bus shelter westerly
New curb ramps at non-ADA compliant corners of the intersection
Utility upgrades as needed to achieve project completion
This project is currently funded through design phase with revenue from the Open Space Fund.
The Golden Gate Park 9th and Lincoln Gateway Improvements are currently in Design Phase, which we anticipate will be concluded with complete bid documents by winter 2020.
