The play equipment is now installed at George Christopher! As are most of the new light posts. The project has really taken shape over the last month, as you can see from the photos. You’ll see people repainting the posts and installing new chain link at the ball field over the next several weeks. Rec and Park is happy we were able to complete this deferred maintenance improvement in tandem with the playground work.
Some additional concrete work is up next, repaving the area at the top of the amphitheater – across from the front entry of the clubhouse, and pouring curb ramps around the sculpture play area. Irrigation, site furnishings, and pathway work continues as well. Getting plants in the ground is a major milestone. The plantings between the two play structures are part of a Nature Exploration Area, and need significant time to root and establish prior to being loved and trampled by young explorers.
We are working with our contractor on planning potential access improvements, while also trying to understand the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the project schedule. We’ll update everyone again soon, once we have accurate perspective on our revised completion date.
