Thanks to the 698 people who completed our online survey in Fall 2021 regarding Twin Peaks Promenade design. We will share some highlights of information gleaned from the survey in our next update, in the coming weeks, as we move to finalize a concept design for the promenade.
Rec and Park staff have been busy trying to leverage 2020 Health and Recovery Bond Trails Program funding and a Priority Conservation Area (PCA) grant that was awarded to us last year. We have recently applied for 3 additional grants:
The amount we’re requesting from RTP is similar to that requested for the Regional Park Program, so that if we are awarded either of these 2 grants, we would be in a position to move forward with the promenade scope.
The amount we’re requesting from HCF would allow us to add the trail up from Crestline with the Trails Improvement Phase II scope.
Our plan is to move ahead to complete concept design for the promenade and advance the trails design details this Spring. We anticipate hearing back on all 3 grants by sometime in September, at which time we’ll package the promenade together with the trails improvement or, if we don’t get either of the 2 large amount grants, we’ll move forward to improve the trail segments with PCA grant and 2020 Bond Trails Program funding that we have in hand.
Other items we’ve been working on include:
- Finalizing scope and fee, broken out for trails vs. promenade work, for Public Works to provide landscape architecture design and construction support
- Planning for the transfer of the closed portion of Twin Peaks Boulevard from Public Works to Rec and Park via street vacation legislation, pending confirmation of funding for promenade construction
Stay tuned for more updates as we have them.
Happy Trails!
