We are pushing to advertise an RFP (request for proposals) for a design team (architecture and engineering) this July, with the goal of selecting a team and having them start work by right after the New Year 2022. If you know of any firms that might be interested in responding to this request, please sign up to receive these updates, as the link for the RFP will be posted to the project page of the website.
We will also be pursuing what’s called CM/GC contract for this project, whereby the general contractor comes on board to complete constructability review earlier than in the more typical design-bid-build process. We are confident that this will help us to deliver the project as best we can in terms of quality, budget, and timeline. We will be advertising this RFP in the coming months, with the goal of having CM/GC on board by spring 2022 to review schematic design.
Arts Commission staff will be presenting the deaccessioning of existing public art work on site at a Visual Arts Committee hearing on July 21, 2021. Plans to deaccession existing art have been reviewed with community members, with no objection encountered. There is an opportunity for public comment following staff presentation. The hearing starts at 3 pm, and the agenda will be posted to the following website 72 hours prior to the hearing: https://www.sfartscommission.org/calendar/public-meetings/visual-arts-committee-meeting-0
Once we have a design team on board, we will be working with Arts Commission staff to plan for new public art on site. Please stay tuned for information on how you can provide input for the new art work.
We are excited to be moving closer to making this major transformation a reality!
Please stay tuned for more updates.
