Hello neighbors! Since our last project update in January, construction continues to be moving along well.
Our contractor has continued with demolition, preparation of base material and forming of concrete seat walls for the playground area. Large play equipment has been delivered to the site, including the new freestanding climbing wall and the giant wooden bear that will be the centerpiece of the new play structure.
In the course of construction, we discovered damage to the restroom walls, necessitating more involved abatement and reconstruction work.
We have successfully relocated five palm trees that needed to be moved as part of the project. Mountain Lake Park received the palms near the off-leash dog area.
Please note that the multi-use court will be closed for the duration of the project, with the tennis and basketball courts remaining open and accessible via the 19th Avenue gate. The project is anticipated to be completed in summer 2024.
The Richmond Playground Renovation will include new furnishings, upgrades to the public restrooms, accessibility improvements, and a complete makeover of the children’s play area. The project is part of the Let’sPlaySF! Initiative, a partnership between the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department and the San Francisco Parks Alliance to transform 13 timeworn play areas across the City.
