For the last four years, the Recreation and Park Department has been engaging neighbors and other stakeholders, developing designs, and working through regulatory compliance for priority trail improvements and natural features restoration in McLaren Park.
The first phase of construction is tree pruning and tree removal, which will support overall health and safety within McLaren Park. Tree work will begin in the park the week of February 19. Following tree work, construction of priority trail improvements and natural features restoration will begin, likely starting in summer 2024.
Work will be phased by functional areas. Prior to the start of work in each area, additional information will be provided regarding trail detours.
Tree work starts along the Visitacion Avenue corridor the week of February 19. The work includes removal of approximately 80 trees, as well as maintenance pruning on others. Trees to be removed in this area are marked with a white-painted dot.
Expect construction noise, and intermittent trail closures and detours throughout the year.
Please be alert, obey all posted signs, and follow park rules.
