RPD Park Improvements: Twin Peaks Access, Roadway, and Pedestrian Walkway Improvement Project

[ARCHIVED] Twin Peaks Promenade and Trail Improvement Project is Making Progress on Design

Capital Project Update

Over the last several months we’ve been working on construction documents for the three remaining trail segments slated for renovation: the trail up and over Noe Peak, the switch back trail south of Noe Peak, and the trail to Crestline Drive. We are still waiting to hear on construction funding for the latter but have applied for a $350K grant from the Habitat Conservation Fund to support the completion of the third trail.

Bureau of Streets and Mapping (BSM) just finalized the topographic survey which is the basis for design of the Promenade. Now that we have the topographic survey, Public Works design team is moving full steam ahead. Over the next several months they will be refining the plan and preparing construction documents.

While BSM was preparing the topographic survey, we have not sat idle. We’ve met with our Disability Access Coordinator to evaluate ADA requirements for the site. We’ve identified the Mission Blue Butterfly sensitive habitat areas and how design elements might shift to avoid prime habitat. With our Geotech Engineer, we’ve looked at the stability of the downhill slopes. We are working with a signage designer and look forward to sharing progress as it is available. We have also been collaborating with the SF Conservation Corp in hopes to utilize them for portions of demolition in the construction phase.

We hope you get out and enjoy parks over the holiday and wish you a Happy New Year!
