At India Basin Waterfront Park
The Shipwright's Cottage Community Room at India Basin Waterfront Park (900 Innes Avenue) serves as a hub for community meetings, educational opportunities, public outreach, and fostering connections with San Francisco's natural landscapes through educational, recreational, and leisure activities.
This historical landmark was renovated as a part of the India Basin Waterfront Park project and serves as a visitor center for the park and museum with artifacts discovered during the remediation phase of the project.
The reservable community room measures approximately 35 feet by 14 feet, accommodating up to 25 occupants. It offers natural lighting with views of the India Basin shoreline and Oakland in the far distance, a large monitor, tables and seating for up to 25 people.
How to Reserve
To reserve the Shipwright's Cottage Community Room, please email Liuokalani.Liu@sfgov.org. All rental requests must be made a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to the event date to be considered. Rentals must be paid and finalized ten (10) days prior to the date of the event. Reservations have a two-hour minimum.
Reservation Fees & Hours:
- The reservation fee is $30 per hour during business hours: Tuesdays through Saturdays, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Reservations outside of business hours will incur an additional staffing fee of $28 per hour.
- There is a security deposit of $250/reservation. The security deposit is to ensure that all terms of the permit are followed including the requirement to clean the site after use and remove all trash.
- Due to Summer programing, availability is limited from June through Mid-August (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM).
Rules & Regulations:
- Rental parties are limited to community meetings, educational community events, programs, and public workshops.
- Rental parties are responsible for all the clean-up, including bagging and removing all garbage generated from the event, off site, upon departure from the park.
- Rental parties are only allowed on site during the times for which they have reserved. Any set-up or breakdown time must be included as part of your permit time frame.
- Vehicles are NOT permitted on site for any reason. You must hand-carry or hand-cart items to the facility.
- Usage of balloons, confetti, piñatas, glitter, silly string, rice, flower petals, bird seeds etc. as a celebratory toss or prop are not allowed at this site.
- Storage and delivery of supplies before or after and event is not allowed.
- Fires and any open flame are not allowed at this facility.
- Alcohol is not allowed at this facility.
