MRC Rebels coach Chibuzo Emeka

Chibuzo "CB" Emeka

A native of San Francisco, Chibuzo has been playing basketball since the fifth grade. At Raoul Wallenberg High School, he earned three varsity letters, two of which were in basketball under coach Pat Mulligan. During his time on the varsity basketball team, he was named to the All-City first and second teams.

Following high school, Chibuzo played for two years at City College of San Francisco, where his team won a Junior College State Championship. He's now in his fifth year coaching for the MRC Rebels, where he coaches multiple teams. Chibuzo is passionate about the game and is dedicated to passing his knowledge on to the next generation of athletes.



MRC Rebels coach Tyler Suarez Brown

Tyler Suarez-Brown

Tyler Suarez-Brown has been an assistant coach with MRC for over nine years. She attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco, where she played three seasons of varsity basketball. During her time there, she earned first-team all-league honors and was the starting shooting guard on the team ranked #2 in the country in 2015. After playing for five seasons, she immediately began her coaching career with MRC. Tyler enjoys the game of basketball and watching young athletes excel as they develop their skills.


MRC Rebels coach Nelly Escobar

Nelly Escobar

Nelly Escobar has been coaching girls' basketball for over two years. She attended Mercy High School in San Francisco, where she played varsity basketball and ran track for four seasons, earning league honors in both her junior and senior years. Nelly graduated from San Francisco State in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and minors in Health Education and Athletic Coaching. She also holds certifications in personal training and corrective exercise and has experience as a group exercise instructor. With a passion for both fitness and coaching, Nelly enjoys teaching young athletes about the importance of staying healthy while promoting a positive coaching environment where they can have fun and learn the game of basketball.


MRC Rebels coach Rod Hodge

Rod Hodge

Rod Hodge, a native of San Francisco, has been coaching basketball for more than 20 years. Having worked alongside legendary coach Oscar Jimenez, Rod is a well-known figure in the basketball community. He has been with MRC for 15 years, during which he has helped many athletes achieve success in the sport. A former college football player for two years at Nevada College, Rod now continues to share his love for the game of basketball..


MRC Rebels coach Demetrius Jackson

Demetrius Jackson

Before joining the MRC Rebels, Demetrius Jackson was the head coach for the Sacred Heart Cathedral Girls Basketball program. His extensive coaching background also includes serving as the head coach at King’s Academy High School and the High Intensity AAU program, as well as an assistant coach at California State University, Monterey Bay. A native of San Francisco, Jackson is a graduate of Thurgood Marshall High School, where he was a two-time All-City honoree and one-time All-Metro selection. He continued his collegiate career at Shasta Junior College, earning All-Conference and All-State honors before receiving an athletic scholarship to the University of the Pacific. At UOP, Jackson was named All-Conference twice before playing professionally in Mexico for three years.




MRC Rebels coach Marlon Cooper

Marlon Brock Cooper

Coach Cooper brings 20 years of youth sports coaching experience to MRC, having worked with programs ranging from East Oakland youth development to the Jr. Warriors in San Francisco. He has dedicated several years to mentoring at-risk youth in Oakland, using a combination of education and sports to help them stay off the streets and reach their full potential. His athletic background includes playing organized sports from age nine, including Pop Warner football and various youth basketball leagues. He was a high school basketball starter in Washington state and went on to play for two years at a community college.
