Golden Gate Park | Construction begins soon on JFK Promenade near Stanyan Street

Rec Park Improvements: Golden Gate Park - Stanyan Street Sidewalk Improvements Posted on November 05, 2025

We are excited to announce that construction will begin next week to upgrade crosswalks and curb ramps on JFK Promenade near Stanyan Street.

JFK Promenade will remain open to pedestrians throughout construction. Expect construction noise, intermittent street/sidewalk closures, and pedestrian detours. Please follow all posted signage and directions from flaggers.

We will start by replacing the crosswalks and curb ramps at Pompeii Circle, which will be completed before Thanksgiving and our annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at McLaren Lodge.

Our contractor will resume work on JFK starting in early December to complete the crosswalks and curb ramps at Conservatory Drive East.

This work along JFK Promenade is expected to be completed before the end of the year.

The start of construction on the Stanyan Street Sidewalk Improvements is contingent on MTA reviews and approvals. Construction work along Stanyan Street at JFK Promenade is expected to begin in late December or following completion of the work on JFK Promenade.

Thank you for your support as we work to improve accessibility and safety in Golden Gate Park!
