After more than 10 years of visioning, planning, and design, we’re thrilled to begin the construction phase of the Buchanan Street Mall Renovation capital project. This project will be focused on completing the planned improvements safely with as few disruptions as possible.
Over the past month, work has progressed on critical pre-construction tasks, including:
- Submitting required safety and compliance documents
- Completing a site inventory
- Coordinating with subcontractors
- Creating new process and tracking templates to support our Park Improvement Equity Action (PIEA) goals, particularly around hyperlocal worker participation
We are currently working on a phased approach to closing the park for construction and expect to share more details on the mobilization schedule and site logistics very soon.
NOTE: As previously shared, all doors and gates that open onto Buchanan Mall will remain accessible via ADA-compliant routes throughout construction. While these routes may shift from time to time, we will continue to update the community regularly with the latest logistics plans.
