SPECIAL COVID 19 PERMITS
On March 2, the SF Department of Public Health issued guidance to allow the reopening of youth and adult sports programs. Our Department is quickly mobilizing our permit application process to be able to restart youth and adult sports play as fast and as safely as possible. With the new health directive, we will be able to issue permits for Out of School Time (OST) programs for youth and Sports League and Outdoor Fitness permits for adults. For more information of each of these programs, see below:
Youth Outside-of-School Time (OST) and Childcare Provider Programs
Current health orders allow youth programs to be offered to children in elementary school and up (K-12), under limited circumstances. See the Health Order and Guidance for Out of School Time Programs. There is a separate Health Order and Guidance for Childcare for young children NOT yet in elementary school. In order to facilitate service providers offering youth programs the Recreation and Park Department will issue permits to program providers that meet the guidelines on a space available basis.
OST programs allow coaches to offer extracurricular recreational activities to groups of children (cohorts). OST guidelines require players to wear face coverings at all times and to maintain 6 ft social distancing as much as possible. Recent health orders now allow OST participants to engage in activities where 6 ft social distanced can not be maintained at all times (such as scrimmaging) but all participant families must sign an Informed Consent Waiver to allow their child to participate. If you would like to apply for an OST or childcare program permit to use an athletic field, please complete:
2021 Summer OST Request Form (For June 1 to August 31) - Deadline for first consideration April 30
Fall 2021 - We are returning to our normal Fall League and Program request forms that can be found on our Advanced Reservations page.
Adult Boot Camps/Yoga Programs and Sports Leagues
Current health orders allow adult outdoor fitness classes to be offered under limited circumstances. Any authorized outdoor health and fitness programs will need a permit to operate so that they have a designated space and permission to offer the class. If you are interested, please first review the Department of Public Health’s Re-opening Guidance for Outdoor Fitness, and then complete an application available here.
The March 2nd directive issued by the SFDPH also allows the reopening of adult sports league with restrictions. See health directive for best sports practices here. If you would like to request an athletic field for your league use
