We’re excited to report that the Friend Gate (North Gate) is now open again!
Work around the Friend Gate was Phase 2 of this project and included construction of new stairways and ramps, pathway paving work, and installation metal handrails around the Friend Gate, Andean Cloud Forest, and Gondwana Circle.
Phase 1 was completed in August and involved extensive pathway improvements in the southeast section of the gardens (Mesoamerican Cloud Forest).
Now that these two phases are complete, we will pause work for the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Flower Piano, September 12-21.
Construction will resume the following week with the start of Phase 3, which includes pathway improvements around the Andean Cloud Forest, Southeast Asian Cloud Forest, and Zellerbach Garden of Perennials.
In total, this project has 5 phases, which correspond with locations around the Garden. All work is expected to be completed by late 2025.
Please be advised that the restrooms at Great Meadow are also currently closed for remodeling. While the restrooms are closed, please use the portable toilets on the north side of Great Meadow or restrooms at the Friend Gate (North Gate).
