The Civic Center Carnival, a four-day family-friendly celebration, will take place from Thursday, August 24 through Sunday, August 27 on Fulton Street between the Main Library and Asian Art Museum. It will run from 2:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 12:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday; and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
It will feature carnival games and rides, including a Ferris wheel, 100-foot super slide, fun house, spinning teacups and more. Guests can indulge in classic fair treats including hand-dipped corn dogs, Hawaiian shave ice, funnel cakes, popcorn, cotton candy, caramel apples and French fries. Admission to Civic Center Carnival requires a $10 minimum purchase toward games, rides or food for each person over 12. The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department will distribute a limited number of complimentary passes to nonprofits serving youth in its Equity Zones, including the Tenderloin and South of Market neighborhoods.

Driving to the event
The Civic Center area experiences heavy traffic from cars and other vehicles, and parking in the area is limited. We recommend other forms of transportation.
Parking
Paid parking is available in the Civic Center Garage. Enter the garage from McAllister Street, between Polk and Larkin. Take the elevator to the street level, and enter the event at Larkin and Fulton Streets.
Blue zone parking
There are blue zone spaces in the Civic Center Garage, and a limited number of blue zone spaces on the streets surrounding the event. We recommend arriving early to find a blue zone space.
Passenger drop-off
Paratransit, rideshare, taxis, and personal vehicles can drop off and pick up passengers at Larkin and Fulton Streets, or Hyde and Fulton Streets.
Public Transportation
- Civic Center Bart/Muni Metro Station
- Travel north on Hyde or Larkin to the event entrances at Fulton Street
- 19 Bus
- Take the 19 Bus to Larkin and McAllister or Larkin and Grove, or Hyde and Grove. Enter the event at from Hyde or Larkin at Fulton Street.
- 5, 21 Bus
- Take the 5 or the 21 to McAllister and Hyde. Enter the event at Hyde and Fulton
Event Entrances
There are event entrances at Larkin and Fulton or Hyde and Fulton. Both entrances are accessible.
Ticket Kiosks
Ticket kiosks are located at each entrance. Staff will assist customers if the kiosk window is too high to reach.
Event Surface
The event surface is a flat, asphalt surface. There may be some areas with cracks or changes in elevation greater than ½ inch, so caution recommended.
Pets and Service and Support Animals
This event will be very loud and very crowded. We recommend that you do not bring pets to this event. If your pet is aggressive or disruptive you may be asked to remove the pet. Dogs and pets must always be under the owner’s control, on a leash or in a carrier.

Food truck
There will be a food truck with carnival-style food, near the center of the event (on the west side of the pioneer monument). If counters are too high to reach, staff will assist customers.
Restrooms
Portable toilets, including accessible toilets, will be located near the Hyde Street entrance, at the southeast corner of the event area.
