The new prefabricated restroom has arrived!
Big thanks to everyone who came out to watch this morning. It was a fun atmosphere. Our staff saw neighbors standing on the play structure to get a peek and heard a group of children passing through the park call out, “There it is! Our restroom!”
Now that the facility has arrived, our contractor will begin connecting the utilities to the structure and complete the surrounding landscaping, with the aim of opening the new restroom in early 2026.
Once the restroom is open, the Precita Eyes Muralists will begin the final artistic phase in the spring, installing custom tiles that will add color, character, and community storytelling to the exterior. These hand-crafted tiles will reflect the spirit of the neighborhood and transform the restroom into a functional piece of public art as well as a much-anticipated park amenity.
The project utilizes the department’s Cooperative Purchasing Agreement, reducing costs and enabling a faster, more efficient delivery of improvements and supports the local economy by hiring an LBE (local business enterprise) contractor.
