Mobile Recreation is a new program brought to you by the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department. The primary goal is to introduce youth to recreational activities that are fun, challenging, and encourage them to “Get out and Play” now and during their entire lives. Activities include the mobile rock-climbing wall, skateboarding/BMX on Fresh Park equipment (ramps, rails and manual pads), disc golf, and sea kayaking. Equipment for these activities is transported to Recreation Centers, Parks and Playgrounds all over San Francisco on Saturdays throughout the school year. In addition, fifteen afterschool enrichment programs are visited on Wednesday afternoons for a special Mobile Recreation Program specifically designed for a variety of SF youth. The San Francisco Parks Alliance and the Coca-Cola Foundation have generously provided support for this new program.

Mobile Rock Wall
Never climbed before? No problem! This mobile rock wall stands a towering 30 feet overhead. Made out of molded composite "real rock" this climbing surface, is capable of accommodating 3 independent climbers simultaneously. The "auto belay" safety lines provide increased protection and a gentle ride to the base of the wall. Walls have routes that vary to include beginners as well as those more daring. As always, the wall is fully staffed with professional RPD employees.
BMX stands for,Bicycle Motocross and it is an independent sport that is accessible to anyone who can ride a bike. The sport has two distinct genres – racing and freestyle. The Mobile Recreation Unit will provide BMX bikes and set-up a variety of ramps and obstacles for you to start mastering your skills in tricks and bike handling.
Learn to skateboard or enhance your skills. RPD staff is available to help you learn ground basics such as pushing & stopping then progress to advanced skills such as nose and tail stalls, dropping in, and kick turns. The Mobile Recreation will provide some skateboards, helmets and pads, however it is encouraged to bring your own, as we have limited gear. Helmets are mandatory for all participants. Other safety gear recommended.
