Juri Commons Project – A Let’sPlaySF! Initiative

Spurred by the Community Opportunity Fund grant procured by the Friends of Juri Commons, and the park’s designation as one of 13 Let’sPlaySF! sites, the renovation of this unique slice of the city will provide a lush, safe, and accessible park for all.

Juri Commons is the green remnant of a railroad that ran through the city beginning over 150 years ago. Building on this history, the long slender diagonal cut through a city block will welcome those passing through on their way to and from work, walking their dogs, or stopping with children for a quiet play space tucked into the heart of the city.

The renovation will include a new and fully ADA accessible pathway, an irrigation upgrade, plantings and tree maintenance, new entry gates, benches, and upgraded play spaces. The design will aim to reflect the unique historical and physical character of this urban oasis.
