Collis P. Huntington Park Improvement Project

The new children's playground

Huntington Park is a 1.3 acre neighborhood park, located in the Nob Hill neighborhood between California Street and Sacramento Street at Taylor Street in supervisorial District 3. The children’s play area is located on the northern end of the site, along Sacramento Street. It is divided into two areas by a central walkway. The eastern play area is for younger children, and the western one for older children.

Scope of Work

The main objective of the conceptual plan has been met! The newly renovated children’s play area includes modern playground structures with a mix of equipment for both younger children, ages 2- to 5 yrs, and older children, ages 5- to 12 yrs. The new playground is fully accessible in compliance with disability access laws and features a poured-in-place rubber mat surface for safety. Final features will include benches for seating, plantings, a seatwall and entry gates for protection; these features will be installed in the late fall.
