Potrero Hill Recreation Center Project includes the renovation of the natural turf playfields, improvements to the lower level dog play area, and pedestrian lighting at the on-site pathway
for the Walking School Bus Route. The 5.4 Million project budget is funded by the 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond and Eastern Neighborhoods Impact Fees.
The concept plan for the renovation of Potrero Hill Recreation Center was approved by the Recreation and Park Commission at the Meeting of November 17, 2016. Subsequently, staff proceeded with the project design phase and preparation of construction documents that were completed in January 2018. The project was advertised for construction bids twice, in February and April 2018, due to the high cost bidding climate. With a streamlined re-bid package we received two bids within the established construction budget of $3.6 Million. The Recreation and Park Commission awarded the construction contract to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Azul Works Inc. at the Meeting of May 17, 2018.
Notice to Proceed for Construction was issued on July 16, 2018. Mobilization and start of earth disturbing construction activities are scheduled to begin in mid-August 2018 after obtaining BAAQMD’s approval of environmental submittal for Asbestos Dust Mitigation Plan. The construction duration is 8 months with completion anticipated in March/April 2019.
