July is a big month for project milestones at the SF Marina West Harbor. The Contractor handed off C and D docks for occupancy, the work in the harbor office reached completion, and the old timber docks will soon be a thing of the past.Early July saw the movement of vessels out of the remaining timber docks along Marina Blvd, and off the Marina Green. The demo barge will be onsite to remove all the remaining docks and piles during the last week of July and first week of August. The dredge barge and scows should arrive in mid-August. Phase 2 dredging will be complex and slow. In order to perform this work, crews plan to work 16 hours/day, 5 days per week. Silt screens will be placed to control spread of sediment, so access to channels may be temporarily impeded. A crew will be on hand to move silt screens to allow vessels to pass, but boaters should be aware that there may be minor delays. As always, your patience is greatly appreciated. We are in the home stretch.
Landside work, particularly around the harbor office, was going full steam in July. The building improvements are now complete, but reopening to the public cannot occur until the site accessibility upgrades serving it are complete. This includes paving and parking zones. This work is expected to be completed by the end of the month, and I will post here when the restrooms and locker rooms will be open for your use.
