Plots have been assigned in the new community garden at the Palega Rec Center, and Rec and Park convened an organizing meeting in late April with those people assigned plots to review Community Gardens Program policies, share assignments and hand over the bulk of the day to day management of the garden to plot holders who volunteered to take on leadership roles.
One of the plots will be the responsibility of the recreation program at Palega Rec and will be tended by elementary school students with oversight from Rec staff.
Most of the 13 people who attended the meeting had not met previously. They were excited to get started and also to get gardening tips from their new “neighbors.”
If you would like to be added to the waiting list for a plot at the new Palega Rec Center Community Garden, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org and include your full name, phone number and e-mail address. If you do not have e-mail access, please contact Community Gardens Program Manager Melinda Stockmann at 581-2548.
