The construction at the Joe DiMaggio Playground is moving smoothly & a lot of exciting progress has occurred in the last few weeks. As with all construction projects, infrastructure work is the first to occur with items like earthwork, drainage, utilities. This important infrastructure is placed first and supports the final improvements.
The retaining walls surrounding the new tennis courts are almost complete. The final stage is for the rear walls to receive shotcrete, a form of concrete that is blown into place. Within the next few weeks, the walls will be complete and the tennis courts will receive their base layers of paving. Below is a current view of the new courts from the southwest corner:
The earthwork of the upper playground is almost complete. The orange stakes in the photo below show the edges of the future play surfacing:
