Demolition is under full-swing at the playground these days. While the site has appeared a little quiet recently, the contractor was actively working on the site and behind the scenes ensuring important measures were taken before the big equipment arrived.
The playground is almost completely gone now and the contractor will start demolishing larger portions of the paving and walls next week. If you are near the site, take a look at the large wood logs near the corner of Powell and Lombard: these logs are from the removed trees and will be reused in the playground as seats and play stumps. The contractors will also save a significant portion of the concrete sidewalks and reuse the concrete slabs for walls in the new playground. As the project moves forward, we will post photos of these sustainable elements in the park.
