All trenches have been backfilled and infrastructure is almost complete. As you can see from the photo, the new irrigation system works beautifully. The sod will be delivered and installed later this week, marking the most difficult and delicate part of the improvement- the sod (lawn) establishment.
The lawn will look deceivingly complete; however, in the next several months, the new lawn will need both saturated soil and time to regrow roots anchoring it to this new location. Walking on wet new lawn compresses the soil, crushing new growth, and leaving depressions in the lawn from which it cannot recover, and extending the opening date.
To give the lawn the start it needs, please do not cross the construction fence or allow any walking or running on the new lawn until it opens in late October 2013.
