About the Garden
White Crane Springs Community Garden has been providing beauty and pleasure to the Sunset District since the 1970’s. Located just South of 7th and Lawton Streets, WCS is open to the public and provides a peaceful respite from City life.
Our garden of nearly 90 individual plots and areas of community space is maintained by more than six dozen garden members in the true sense of “natural” gardening - the best organic practices, IPM (Integrated Pest Management) and sustainability projects including composting, sheet mulching and a Cob shed complete with a green living roof.
Workdays at White Crane Springs
Workdays are alternating first Saturdays and first Sundays of the month, from 10 a.m.-noon, followed by a community potluck and gathering from noon-1 p.m. In 2022, workdays occur on Saturdays in odd numbered months (January, March, May, July, September and November), and on Sundays in even numbered months (Feb, April, June, August, October and December).
