DuPont Courts Restroom – UPDATE

Dear Neighbors of DuPont Courts:

As you may know, the DuPont Courts restroom project is funded under the 2008 Park Bond to improve free-standing restrooms, supported by 71% of voters. Subject to the outcome of a permit appeal hearing on April 9, 2014 (Wed) the project replaces the existing restrooms with a comparable new building that is wheelchair-accessible and complies with current building codes. The new restroom building will occupy the approximate same location and avoid impacts to the use of the tennis courts. In addition to the new restrooms, the City will provide a wheelchair-accessible ramp entrance as required under federal and state law. The City proposes to construct a wheelchair-accessible ramp from 30th Ave in consideration of impacts to tennis-court use and cost of construction. A planting strip will remain between the new ramp and sidewalk for new landscaping. The City will also resurface the tennis courts with new blue and green color coating and to correct site drainage.

This design received the Arts Commission’s Phase 1 and 2 approvals. The Recreation and Park Department was re-scheduled to present the DuPont Courts Restroom Project for Phase 3 (final) approval by the Arts Commission on March 17, 2014 (Mon) at 3 PM. For more meeting information, please visit or The project is consistent with that presented at the DuPont Courts Restroom community meetings in May and June of 2013. This is an opportunity for further public input.
