A New Lawn for Alamo Square!

Following last week’s tree planting, new sod is now being installed at Alamo Square. The hillside along Scott Street is the first area to receive a “no mow” fescue grass, which will be used on steeper slopes throughout the park to create a naturalized landscape. When established, this grass will appear longer and softer than a traditional lawn and will not require routine mowing, which amounts to lower water consumption and fuel use.

A traditional lawn will also be installed throughout much of the park to preserve space for recreation, picnics, and soaking up sun and scenic views.
