Japantown Peace Plaza Renovation | Upcoming Opportunities to Provide Public Comment

Capital Project Update

Hello neighbors!

We wanted to share that there are a few upcoming opportunities to provide input into the Japantown Peace Plaza Renovation:

1) San Francisco Arts Commission’s Civic Design Review for Phase 2 & 3 will be taking place on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM at War Memorial Veterans Building, 401 Van Ness Avenue, Room 125; San Francisco, CA 94102. Any member of the public is welcome to attend this meeting and provide public comment. See the City's website to view the meeting agenda, which is posted 72 hours in advance, and for instructions on how to attend in-person or join remotely.

2) Japantown Task Force, Peace Plaza Committee meets virtually on the 4th Tuesday of every month. For the committee's agenda, please visit https://www.japantowntaskforce.org/committees

3) SF Recreation and Park Commission will be voting to accept two grants for this project at their meeting on March 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Joe Lee Rec Center (note special offsite location for this month's meeting). Thanks in part to the steadfast advocacy work of the Japantown Task Force, SF Rec and Parks has secured state and federal grants awarded by Assemblymember Phil Ting and House Representative Nancy Pelosi. The motion to accept will be Item 5-e-f on the Commission's consent calendar.
