RPD Park Improvements: Twin Peaks Access, Roadway, and Pedestrian Walkway Improvement Project

[ARCHIVED] Twin Peaks Promenade update | February 2023

Capital Project Update

Hello neighbors! As you may know, the Twin Peaks Promenade project will convert the eastern roadway into a linear park. At this early stage, we continue to refine design elements such as overlooks, benches, multi-use features, bicycle racks, interpretive/trail signage, boulders, plantings, and circulation routes.

We’re happy to share that our design team at the Department of Public Works (DPW) has completed a major project milestone – the construction document set is now 35% complete. We use these partial construction document sets to coordinate with partners such as the San Francisco Fire Department and Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), as well as Rec and Park’s own maintenance teams, as we plan out all of the details of the project work. Congrats to our colleagues at DPW!

And we have more good news! In January, the Twin Peaks Trails project was awarded a $350,000 Habitat Conservation Fund (HCF) grant from California State Parks. This grant will focus on the renovation of trail segment T-3 that connects Crestline Drive to the Promenade. The renovation will encourage trail users to stay on the defined path and prevent social trails from cutting through sensitive Mission Blue Butterfly habitat. Funding from this grant will also support programs such as San Francisco Conservation Corps by employing their crews of corpsmembers during construction.

Thank you for your ongoing support and we look forward to sharing more updates with you as the project progresses.
