We’re excited to share that a Nature Exploration Area (NEA) by the Forest Hill Muni station is open! Made entirely of repurposed downed logs from our urban forestry team, this new area combines natural challenges and gathering spaces to ensure that children can play, learn, and grow outdoors.
The NEA was installed by the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department and SF Children and Nature. Children who experience nature as part of their daily lives are healthier, happier, and more resilient, according to a growing body of research. Yet children today spend less time outside than any other previous generation, to the detriment of their health and well-being. Read more about the benefits of getting children outdoors here.
This Nature Exploration Area is part of the Forest Hill Irrigation Improvement Project by the SFMTA and the San Francisco Public Utility Commission’s Large Landscape Grant Program. Grab your mask and explore this new park area soon!
