The Arts Commission Civic Design Review Committee approved the design in April, under their “Small Project Review” category.
Our team is moving forward to flesh out details of the approved concept design. We are expecting a 50% construction document submittal later this month, which will then be reviewed by our Disability Access Coordinator, Structural Maintenance Yard, and cost estimator.
Our budget remains tight; however, we will be including some adult exercise equipment in the bid package as an “additive alternate.” This means that if the lowest contractor bid comes in below budget, we may be able to include this.
We are researching options for adult exercise equipment now and will be reaching out to community members later this month to ask for your preferences.
We’ll also be reaching out to community members to solicit names of community members who contributed significantly, through volunteering and / or advocacy, toward the improvement of the Merced Heights Playground facility. Some folks have already submitted names via our online survey. We will follow up in the coming weeks to ask for names to be submitted by a deadline (TBD), along with a brief reasoning, or substantiation, for the nomination.
Please stay tuned for more updates!
