Strawberry Hill Butterfly Habitat Restoration Project

Saturday, November 14, 2020

If you love your parks, and are looking for a meaningful and substantive way to make a positive difference, come on out and volunteer with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department! On the second Saturday of every month, we enhance habitat on Strawberry Hill in Golden Gate Park. We remove invasive weeds, and put in plant species that Swallowtails and other butterflies need to thrive. This is an ongoing program – we’re looking for both occasional volunteers, and those who would like to be involved on a regular basis. To sign-up for this volunteer opportunity, please email recparkvolunteer@sfgov.org or call 415-831-6884 by the Wednesday prior to the workday. All instruction and needed tools are provided. Please wear closed toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and dress in layers as the weather may change quickly. You may want to bring a bottle of water to keep with you while you work. If you’re sensitive to sun, don’t forget your sun block lotion and hat.
