Ideas to Improve Traffic Safety & Park Access 

Based on the work of a Golden Gate Park Stakeholder Working Group, led by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, we propose the following in order to improve access, equity, and mobility:

Upgrade the existing in-park circulator shuttle

Permitting pedicab service within the park

Share Services
Install new bike racks and bikeshare docking stations, permitting bikeshare, dockless bikeshare, and scooter share within the park

Free-to-use 15-minute drop-off zones and dynamic parking rates

And other challenges at intersections in and near the park

Park roadway changes
to provide access to key destinations while maintaining the park experience

Technical analysis and public input will help decide which streets should be closed to cars post-COVID.


After a public outreach process, a program proposal will go to the Board of Supervisors by the end of the 2021, the contents of which will be determined by staff technical analysis and input gathered through the public outreach process.
