Update on Glen Park Rec Center Renovation Project in design – On to Civic Design Review Monday!

Hi Everyone –

Just wanted to update you – for those of you are that are still interested to see EVEN more of us, as I mentioned in my last email update and blog post, the design team will be presenting the current design (first of 3 times) to the Civic Design Committee on Monday, December 16th, 25 Van Ness Ave. – Suite 70.  The meeting starts at 3pm.  I do not know when the Glen Canyon project will be presented, the meetings sometimes go until 6pm.  For more info on this process, http://www.sfartscommission.org/CDR/home/index.html  or call me, and I will try to answer any questions you have or refer you to someone who can.

Also, the Capital Committee of the Recreation and Parks Commission recieved the project well and moved the approval of our concept design forward to the full Commission on December 19th.  That meeting starts at 10am.  You can find more information here:  http://sfrecpark.org/about/recreation-park-commission/.

Thanks so much to those of you who were able to attend or otherwise provide feedback on the materials presented at the community meetings we held on the Renovation of Glen Canyon Park Recreation Center on June 13th and July 13th and the Open House/Update Meeting on November 20th at the Glen Park Library.

I have been thrilled with the thoughtful feedback we have received, with lots of people attending the meetings, emailing, following the blog, calling or using our feedback forms to provide their experience and suggestions.

All information presented and feedback forms are available here: http://sfrecpark.org/project/glen-canyon-park-2012-bond/

Additionally, over the next several months, we will work with the various required reviews,  such as the Building Department and others, make sure that the new design meets all of the required codes and energy requirements.  I hope to work with the Glen Park Neighbors and others to provide you updates over the next few months as well.

I know this can seem like a long process, but we will get there!  The plan is to finish the detailed design in 2014 and bid and award the contract at the end of 2014 in order to start construction in Spring 2015!

I know this is a lot of information, so please call if you have any questions or additional feedback.  Here is how you reach me:
