Thank you for your continued interest and participation in the renovations at Glen Canyon Park

Thank you for your continued interest and participation in the renovations at Glen Canyon Park—from attending community meetings to emailing your thoughtful comments. The completion of a series of productive and informative community meetings marks the end of the planning stage of the Glen Canyon Park Renovation project. The project is moving forward as needed to break ground in late fall 2012 and wrap up in summer 2013.
These renovations will include a newly designed entry to the park as well as new restrooms and tennis courts. In addition, the new children’s playground will be both challenging and well suited to its natural setting. The Explorer Dome with Climbing Boulder concept for the playground—which was overwhelmingly embraced by neighbors and park-users at the last community meeting and in comments provided by email to the Recreation and Park Department afterward—will guide the park design. A sand play area will also be included into the playground design, due to the enthusiastic support for sand during the planning process. Click on the tab labeled “Maps & Designs” to see what we’re planning!
Just a note, we have heard your concerns about park access during construction. While safety requires that access be limited during construction, we are looking into how we can accommodate your concerns.
