Site Work Progress for McLaren Park Trail Connector Project

Site Work in Progress at Campbell Ave Entry

Our contractor has made substantial progress with site preparation work at 2 of the 3 sites.  Hazardous trees have been removed, as well as weeds and debris.  The Persia ave and Campbell Ave entries don’t look that great to passsersby this week, but this work of removing blackberry and other weeds and grading the site is an important foundation for the success of the rest of the project.

Work at the Visitacion Ave Fire Road site has been put on hold temporarily because our consulting biologist found a bird nest in one of the trees within the limit of work.  We are monitoring nesting activity closely and will start work at this third site as soon as it’s clear that we are not disrupting any nesting birds.

Next up the contractor will be completing fine grading and soil preparation for planting areas, placing logs and boulders in the planting areas and then getting ready for planting and a new concrete path at the Campbell entry to connect the sidewalk on the south side of Campbell to the stairs shown below.

We are also working with our sign fabrication team to get 3 more McLaren Trailhead signs fabricated so that one can be installed at each of these 3 entryways.

Please stay tuned for more info!
