The eastern edge of Golden Gate Park is in need of improvements so that this park space is more inviting to park visitors. The goal of this project will include making improvements to improve pedestrian access and circulation while trying to activate the area with positive park related activities. The project goal also includes making improvement to various landscape areas so that they are more inviting for visitors while protecting this vary valuable landscape asset.
Scope of Work
This project is focused on making improvements to various areas on the Stanyan Street Frontage in Golden Gate Park. The areas of focus include renovating the Stanyan Street entry plaza, adding a new pedestrian sidewalk between Haight Street and JFK Drive, making landscape improvements in the oak woodland area south of the lake and exploring improvements to the existing restroom building and converting this space to a visitor kiosk space.
This project is currently being funded using 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood park Bond dollars_ City Wide Program.
The planning process for this project will span from Sept 2016 thru April 2017. Design is anticipated to be completed in October 2017 following by bid and construction contract award in March 2018. Construction will commence with a completion date anticipated in September 2018.
