Leland Avenue Rain Garden Project

McLaren Park Leland Ave Entrance

McLaren Park Leland Avenue Entrance Improvements

San Francisco Recreation and Park Department and San Francisco Public Utilities Commission are partnering to activate McLaren Park Leland Avenue entrance with two improvement projects!

Leland Avenue Rain Garden

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) will be building a rain garden to divert stormwater between the Visitacion Avenue and Leland Avenue sewer. The rain garden system will capture rainwater from Visitacion Avenue and fill terraced planters to retain, filter, and absorb rain water within 24 hours following a storm. When the lowest planter overflows, only then will rain water enter the city sewer system. The 3000-square foot system is estimated to keep 780,000 gallons of water annually from entering the sewer system and recharge the ground water table.

Construction starts August 2017 and will be completed Summer 2018.
