Poor and unsafe access strictly limits the number of visits to the Interior Greenbelt natural area, which abuts a large network of multi-use trails in the University of California San Franciscoﾒs Mt. Sutro open space. There is no safe designated access to the natural area from the neighborhood to the east, along Stanyan Street. Rehabilitation of an unsafe trail that connects to the UCSF trail network and Edgewood Drive was completed in 2009.
Scope of Work
The Urban Trails Program will improve neighborhood access from Stanyan Street to the Interior Greenbelt and the UCSF property, and will install wayfinding signs to guide park users. Trailside vegetation will be restored to increase hikersﾒ sense of safety and improve aesthetics and habitat value.
