Glen Canyon Rec Center Improvement Project

Description

Glen Canyon Park is located off of O’Shaugnessy Boulevard and Elk Street. The approximately 67-acre park offers visitors a recreation center, including a gymnasium, auditorium, offices, and related amenities; a two-story Silver Tree Day Camp building; hiking trails, open space, and creek; two baseball fields; two tennis courts; a children’s play area; and a picnic area.

Project Scope

The project may include renovations of the existing recreation center to provide an additional 4,500 square feet of multi-purpose space, gymnasium seating, and related amenities.

Funding

This project is funded by the 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond and has been allocated $12 million dollars.

Glen Canyon Sussex Stair Replacement Coming Soon!

The existing stair leading to the intersection of Sussex and Elk Streets is scheduled for replacement beginning this November. The new landscape around the Glen Canyon Recreation Center is nearing completion. The front and rear plazas are open and feature new lighting, decorative stone inlays, and seat walls.
