There has never been a master plan for signs in Golden Gate Park. As signs seem to proliferate within the park, the Recreation & Park Department needs to standardize the sign designs, replace existing maps, and fabricate signs out of materials that will require minimal maintenance. A better wayfinding system is necessary to help visitors find park attractions.
The Golden Gate Park Signage Program will develop master plan for park signs and create design standards for signage in Golden Gate Park. The standards will govern a variety of different signage types including wayfinding, interpretive, facility identification, and regulatory signs.
