Garfield Square is located at Harrison and 26th Streets’. The park is approximately 169,000 square feet and has a pool building and adjacent club house, sport courts, synthetic fields for soccer, children’s play area, picnic area, landscaping, and related amenities.
The proposed project scope includes a full renovation of the existing pool building, and the demolition and replacement of the adjacent clubhouse building. The newly reconfigured recreation center will included a shared entry lobby to access the pool facility and clubhouse, a new multi-purpose courtyard, improved park accessibility, and new landscaping.
$19.7M total budget. The project is funded by the 2012 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks GO Bond at $11 million, and IPIC Eastern Neighborhood Impact Fees at $8.7 million.
The renovation will begin in late October/early November 2018 and take approximately 18 months to complete.

Once the renovation at Balboa Pool is completed in Fall 2017, the $11 million Garfield Pool renovation and $8.2 million Rossi Pool renovation will follow. The three renovations will not overlap in an effort to serve the public with as much aquatic recreation as possible.
