Balboa Park is a 25-acre park located in the Excelsior neighborhood, an area with the highest concentration of children in San Francisco. For nearly a century, Balboa Park has been a much loved, heavily-used neighborhood resource-and work in progress. It draws people from all over the city with its large sport fields and pool, but many of the elements that make it a friendly neighborhood park, such as picnic areas, pathways and landscaping, have not been included.
The renovation of Balboa Park has long been a priority for the Recreation and Parks Department. RPD collaborated with the Trust for Public Land to renovate Balboa Park, including a new Skate-park.
Within the next few weeks contractors will be moving onsite and will be staging at the basketball courts, which will remain closed for the duration of construction due to safety concerns as the building gets seismically retrofitted, and the renovated. Thank you for your patience!
