We offer many different picnic areas ranging from beautiful areas in Golden Gate Park with a barbecue grill to neighborhood picnic areas where you can hold a community event or child’s birthday party. Dolores Park, Julius Kahn Playground, Douglas Park, Pine Lake Park are just a few of the many wonderful venues. Depending on your needs some sites allow jumper houses, others have space for volleyball or kickball. Our sites are very popular so plan to book early!
How to Apply for a Picnic:

Picnic sites may be booked starting the third Wednesday in January of each year covering the next 6 month period except that picnics during the months of January and February may be booked starting the second Wednesday of the prior November. If you need to confirm further in advance than this, it is necessary to complete a Special Event Application (see below).
Picnics of 100 or more need to complete a Large Picnic Application Form (you might want to contact us first to confirm availability).
Cancellations and Changes: Any changes or cancellations must be made at least 10 business days prior to the event date and will be subject to a fee of the higher of $22 or 25% of the fee. In addition, if you would like a refund (as opposed to a credit to your account), there will be a refund fee of the higher of $22 or 20% of the refund amount. There are no changes or cancellations within 10 business days of the event date..
Special events are handled by a different area of our office and require a different form to be completed. Any event doing any of the following is considered a special event:
- Amplified sound
- Selling food, alcohol or merchandise
- Selling tickets
- Advertising that it is open to the public
- Requiring special set ups of stages, tents or other items
- Needing to confirm date/time/location more than 6 months in advance
