Open Gardens Day on September 23

Join us to celebrate Open Gardens Day across the city on September 23. Listed below are the community gardens that will be open that day with each featuring various educational, recreational and social activities! We will also be holding Garden Resource Days at the Golden Gate Park CommUNITY Garden and Alemany Farm from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for your gardening needs including mulch!

In Chan Kaajal Community Garden –
Location: 17th Street & Folsom Street
Open Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Activities: Volunteer open hours (9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Alemany Farm – 
Location: Alemany Boulevard & Ellsworth Street
Open Hours: 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Activities: volunteer open hours (12:00 to 5:00 p.m.) & Garden Resource Day (10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

Golden Gate Park CommUNITY Garden –
Location: Frederick Street & Arguello Boulevard
Open Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Activities: Advice on native plants and native plant giveaway (10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.), Sauerkraut Demo (11:30 a.m.) & Garden Resource Day (10:00am -1:00pm)

White Crane Springs – 
Location: 7th Avenue & Lawton Street
Open Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Activities: BBQ at noon, Bike Tour ends here and Pickling Demo (1:00 p.m.)

Clipper Street Garden- 
Location: Clipper Street & Grand View Avenue
Open Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Activities: Meet and greet with community gardeners

Corona Heights Community Garden –
Location: States Street & Museum Way
Open Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Activities: Meet and greet with community gardeners

Adam Rodgers Community Garden-
Location: Ingalls Street & Oakdale Street
Open Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Potrero Del Sol Community Garden –
Location: Cesar Chavez Street & Potrero Street
Open Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Brooks Park Community Garden-
Location: Shields Street & Ramsell Street
Open Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Activities: Mini Golf (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.)

Wolfe Lane Community Garden-
Location: Rutledge Street & Mullen Street
Open Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Arkansas Friendship Garden –
Location: 22nd Street & Arkansas Street

Activities: Bike Tour starts at 10:30 from this garden.

Bernal Heights Community Garden-

College Hill Learning Garden –

Curious what is growing at your local community garden? Join us for SFUAA’s Annual Community Garden Bike Tour in conjunction with San Francisco Rec and Park’s Open Gardens Day. The tour will be help on Saturday, September 23 at 10:30 AM, with a special stop at the Digital Farm Lab in the ManyLabs coworking space!

Route Information:

Start at Arkansas Friendship Garden at 10:30 AM. Then check out ManyLabs in SoMA and roll on over to the Golden Gate CommUNITY Garden. We will end at White Crane Springs Garden just in time for the pickling workshop!

Bring plenty of water and a bike lock. And if you’re joining the pickle workshop, bring your own pint jar to take your pickles home in.

Happy Hour: 

SFUAA is also hosting a happy hour this Saturday in honor of Open Gardens Day.  All interested gardeners, urban agriculture enthusiasts, and especially Open Gardens Day hosts and volunteers are invited to join for a little after-garden-party fun, camaraderie, and networking.
