New Landscape & Temporary Detour

The new landscape around the Glen Canyon Recreation Center is nearing completion.

The front and rear plazas are open and feature new lighting, decorative stone inlays, and seat walls. As part of the building’s LEED Certified renovation, the wood seats atop the walls were salvaged from the gymnasium bleachers prior to construction. Two picnic areas are now open, and the drinking fountain with a pet bowl has been reinstalled.

New trees and shrubs are arriving on site this week and planting will commence shortly. Two new lawn areas will be installed in September and will require 30 days to establish before they are open to the public. The driveway at the bottom of the Bosworth entrance will also be repaved in early September.

Please note that the main building entrance will be closed from September 5 through September 13.  During this time the exterior restrooms will also be closed. Please access the Rec Center from the west entrance as shown in the diagram below.
